Punga maram[Pongamia pinnata]

A deciduous Legume Tree that grows to about 15-25 mtrs in height with the large canopy which spreads equally wide .The leaves are soft ,shiny burgundy in early summer and mature to a glossy deep green as the season progresses. The tree is well suited to intense heat and sunlight and its dense network of lateral roots and its thick, long taproot make it drought tolerant. Flowering: March-April.
Medicinal Uses:Useful for wounds ,antiseptic etc.The oil extracted is used as Bio Diesel.This particular Species is Conserved and Propagated in ECO HERBS SUGANDHAVANAM NURSERY.
